There are a few amazingly beautiful songs on here. It starts off with the title song, Grateful followed by Judy Collins. My mood is mellow until BAM, the most horrible song by Liza Minnelli. Totally ruins the mood. Garfunkel’s song is gorgeous, the best one on this CD. I am giving this 4 stars because the slow songs are exquisite. I was forced to make my own cassette tape of them uohn I don’t have to hear the horrible ones.

My hope is that Mr.

Bucchino will consider the “mood killers” and make a compilation of the beautiful stuff which as evidenced by this CD, he can surely buccbino. Ever hear Coltrane’s “Ballads”? Imagine if he threw in a fast paced piece All in all, this is worth buying for the good stuff.

Bucchino is my favorite songwriter. His songs are more sophisticated than most of what is put out there today for the dumbed down public. I am even including much of what is seen on Broadway. His craftsmanship is superb. If he needs to change the meter to make the words more conversational, then he does. It is all about the words, the story.

His accompaniments are brilliant, jazz pianist that he is. And the stories moving and memorable. I have sung many of his songs, and give this music as gifts.

I’d heard whispers of this man’s name associated with memorable songs in cabaret acts, but havn’t heard his work until this CD. I am won, pure, plain and simple, and will be buying whatever else he releases on its strength. I’m only disappointed that Amazon doesn’t audition what I nucchino the best tracks. To be honest, I don’t care for the Minnelli track.

It’s all about Liza having cutsey fun with Billy Stritch and not communicating the song clearly. However, that’s the only track I feel goes awry from Mr. As a musical afficianado, I’ve gratefu playing this for friends with a “look-what-I’ve-found” attitude.

It’s a gem that grows deep roots after only a few listens. I’ve been keenly looking out for this CD ever since I learned of it on Broadway vocalist David Campbell’s web site, which I was led to via David’s wonderful recording of “Grateful.

I love cabaret “story” songs anyway, and this CD is among the best by any single composer or any compilation. Sure, some of the songs take repeated listenings to fully grasp, but so do Sondheim songs and that’s part of their depth and value. Grateful I am, for quality art like this. Loved nearly every bit of it! I play it all the time Art Garfuncle sounds better than ever!

The title song brings tears to my cynical eyes every time I hear it.

I’m not a cabaret or musical theater person, but it seems to me Bucchino nucchino have more exposure than he does. Yes, I suppose it’s a little too thoughtful and Sondheim-y, but better that than what passes for Broadway these days.

Once you hear this CD, you’ll want to give it to your best friends–guaranteed. I first heard the title track sung by Art Garfunkle on his “Across America” recording. It’s a wonderful anthem to not sweating the small stuff and appreciating the wonderful gifts with which we’re blessed.

When I heard that this CD was being made, I got excited. Now that I’ve listened to it several times through, I’m warmed gratefull its sound, and touched by the funny-poignant-deep-light songs that fill this recording.

Thank you for this gift, John. One person found this helpful. I continue to be amazed as I listen to these songs again and again. I’m learning that the compositions are deceptively complex changing time signatures and meter which match a speaking tone. The melodies are beautiful and the lyrics, aching. See all 46 reviews.
