Jun 04, Barbara rated it did not like it Shelves: I would have rated this a zero but it wasn’t an option. Both in the forward and in his introduction, Jean-Ives Leloup NEVER mentions that most scholars worldwide agree the author of this work is unknown and most likely not St.
The book perpetuates the idea that St. Thomas the Apostle is the author. Based on this, the book defies credulity. Leloup analyzes the material from a gnostic perspective but he never links Gnosticism to St.
I will say the book gave me renewed interest in t I would have rated this a zero but it wasn’t an option. I will say the book gave me renewed interest in the years of study I have spent learning about the birth of the Catholic Church on earth. It is fascinating to understand those considered to be church fathers as well as splinter groups and their leaders. Human history, including the history of the Catholic Church, is always interesting.
